So…What happens in between travels? When you are at home, wherever that is in this big, wide world? How do you soothe your soul when not traveling?
Well…I tend to walk and read a lot, meet up with friends and enjoy their company, kind words and advice, attend interesting events and gaze at the moon at night, wrapped in a blanket with a tea-to-go. But what I love most is indulging in urban discoveries across Bucharest, admiring beauty everywhere materialized in those small, tiny things which make me one of the happiest women alive on this incredible Earth. Spring embraced Bucharest in a flower bouquet so astonishing and so surreal that I still vividly feel the sensation I have been under a spell of beauty and purity. It happens every year, spring after spring, yet I never get bored of it, and I am absolutely dazzled each and every time, just like a delicious baby enjoys repetitive actions which lead to development, growth and a deep understanding of the surrounding world. Pablo Neruda wrote as a last line in one of his famous poems: “I want to do with you what spring does with the cherry trees”, and I could not agree more with him. I believe that spring beautifies everything, spring is that sacred season responsible for bringing beauty in our lives, and determining most of Earth’s residents to become better, happier, to smile more and love each other more. Cherry blossoms, anemones, azaleas, begonias, camellias, freesias, jasmines, lilacs, lilies of the valley, peonies, snowdrops, tulips, and magnolias are some representative soldiers of the mighty beautiful army of spring. For me, magnolias are a symbol of transience, a strong reminder that we are all beautiful, yet ephemeral. And that is exactly why I go out and “hunt” for these treasures, in my shy attempt of enjoying their brief presence. There are some fascinating residential neighbourhoods stretched across Bucharest which seem to be perfect hosts for magnolia trees, thus my steps were inherently guided towards them. Live what you love, dear Moon children! We are here now to experience as many lessons as we need to go on in our spiritual individual journeys, and to fill up our emotional tanks with beauty, happiness, and love for the long road ahead of us!
